Understanding the demands of dyslexia within schools...
Having worked as a SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulty) Co-ordinator, in a sixth form college, for 13 years, I understand the demands that are placed on SENCos in schools especially at busy times of year.
Often the specialist teacher is the only member of staff with the necessary qualifications to apply for exam access arrangements; therefore, my service may be helpful.
We provide extra support for the SENCo who may require temporary help to manage the volume of work. In addition, we offer a scribing /reading service for schools that do not have sufficient staff to cover the exam period.
Touch typing workshops are also provided by us for children over the age of eight years. This can be especially beneficial for students who have a slow handwriting speed and/or the use of a word processor in exams. For more information please see Touch typing pages.
